Sheila Braunstein, MD received her bachelors degree
in biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, in 1977.
She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and received the Watkins award for
highest achievement. She graduated from the USC School of Medicine
in 1981. While in medical school, she was elected to the Alpha
Omega Alpha national honorary medical society. She then completed
a full three-year residency in pediatrics at Los Angeles Children's
Hospital, where she received the Stork award for excellence. She
then began her three-year dermatology residency at Harbor/UCLA Medical
Center. She served as chief resident during her final year of training,
and became board certified in dermatology in 1987. Prior to coming to
Sacramento, she served as a clinical instructor of dermatology at the
UCLA medical center. She is a fellow of the American Academy of
Dermatology, and is past president of the Sacramento Valley
Dermatologic Society.
